Wow. This song really makes you want to turn the lights off, flick on a lighter, and sway back and forth.
Mashup-Germany has put together a new song titled “Somebody to Lean On.” Too deep for a Friday? Maybe — but I can never pass on a good mashup
“This Mashup is dedicated to my beloved grandmother, who is very, very sick right now. It makes you think what life is all about. It’s about having somebody to lean on.”
Who do yougo to when you need… somebody… to leaaaaaaaaaaan on?
Mashup Germany – Somebody to Lean On
Leona Lewis – Happy
Bill Whiters – Lean on me
Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere over the rainbow
John Lennon – Imagine
Selig – Ohne dich (faked Acapella)
Matisyahu – One Day
Counting Crows – Mr. Jones
K’naan – Wavin’ Flag
Alphaville – Forever Young
Blink 182 – All the small things
John Lennon – Interview (Samples)
Cake released Showroom of Compassion on January 11 this year. While some of the songs aren’t your traditional Cake songs (BOO!), they managed to debut at the Number 1 spot on the Billboard charts the first week.
There were several songs that I didn’t like at all. I wasn’t very hopeful about the rest of the album until I heard “Long Time.” This song had all the key components of what a Cake song should consist of: sing+talk, guitar picking, trumpet, synthesizer……….
I. Can’t. Stop. LISTENING. To. It.
The background throughout the entire song + the harmony is awesome.
They are currently in the process of developing the video for the song and hired Callicore Films (based in Paris) to animate the video. Enjoy the song below along with a sneak peek of the upcoming video:
I have to say, the last Eminem + B.o.B. collaboration made me want to stick a pencil in my ear since the radio played it so freaking much.
“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?”
Anyways, “Things Get Worse” is a breath of fresh air compared to B.o.B.’s “Airplanes (Part II)” which featured Eminem. Yes, I preferred the second track more than the original. No, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still the same song.
“Things Get Worse” has the classic Slim Shady feel to it which includes some celebrity bashing:
“…Not till Jessica Simpson lets go of the tuna casserole. I used to love her hooters — now Carmen Elektra’s cuter.”
Poor Jess. The jokes just still keep coming.
Oh yea, B.o.B. also kills it in this song. Check it out.
Bret and I are off to see The Head and the Heart with Dr. Dog tonight at Mr. Smalls Theatre (which is now sold out!) As soon as I found out that THATH were coming to Pittsburgh, I bought tickets (back in November). I am pretty amped to watch them play live. I’ve been viewing the live sessions they did for KEXP radio for some time now, and if they perform half as well as they did there — I’ll be happy:
You can get a free download of their song “No One To Let You Down” by signing up for their newsletter here. If you want to see them on the big stage, they will be performing at Bonnaroo. Big year for THATH? I hope.
It’s been about 2 years since Brett Dennen released a new album. His fourth studio album Loverboy will be released April 12th with plans to have it be more upbeat than past albums including Hope for the Hopeless and So Much More. The lead track for the album was released this week and titled “Sydney ( I’ll Come Running.)” I’ve been waiting for this single since I saw Brett post the video of them recording it in the studio in December:
He will be going on tour this year. You can see if he’s coming to a city near you here. Once again, Pittsburgh isn’t on the tour. Boooo.
Since I’ve pretty much killed the Girl Talk “All Day” album for myself (I neeeedz it to work out), I wanted to find some new mashups.
I don’t know how this got overlooked, but Milkman released an album to download FULL of mashups about a month ago called Algorithms. Now, I don’t want to betray my love for Pittsburgh native, Girl Talk, but I am really feeling these mashups.
I can’t pick a favorite track (because they’re all good), but I’ll let you sample a few below. Download his album for free HERE.
